GROUND N POUND CLINIC 2009
Takedown Machine Summer Camp:
“Structured, Organized, Focused, and Systematic! Just what every young athlete needs, all in a small group format!
14 TRAINING SESSIONS (COMPARED TO 10 SESSIONS AT ALL OTHER "University" 5 DAY CAMPS!
Our Camp dates are set. This camp is limited to just 45 athletes per group, compared to as much as 300 wrestlers you’ll find at most University camps.
Last year we had a Div I head coach and a World Silver Medalist who sent their wrestlers/sons to this camp. This year we have an Olympic Champ who is sending a group of his wrestlers, as they also attended in ’07. So the camp is well received. And with the ICONS of wrestling choosing this camp, we’re confident that it will be a viable learning tool for your son too! Lastly, this is a drill camp, so the kids should come in shape. They will get in literally 1000’s of reps.
In a nutshell……….
1. Our camp only has 45 kids on the mats at a time and allow just 90 per week.
2. Tony and I run the sessions…….not random 20 year old college kids
3. We don’t have 300-400 kids per week as the college camps do.
4. We don’t waist your time with running and pushups. It is ALL wrestling.
5. We ENCOURAGE parents to view the final drill session so that YOU can see whether or not Nick and Tony did their job. You will be impressed when you see how your son drill after day 5 of our camp.
6. We follow a system. Tony and I coach wrestling (Purler Wrestling Academy) for a living. If our kids don’t win, we don’t have a job. No random moves and recreational drill time with us.
8. Camp is located on a beautiful 50 acre camp grounds! Kids will have plenty of room to play/have fun. They will not be cooped up in a dormitory for 5 days.
7. We already have kids from as far away as RI and AK signed up for camp and our camp has CLOSED OUT / FILLED UP 6 years straight.
Note: We get several teams from all over that opt out of the live wrestling 'team camps' and attend the camp to get ALL their kids on the same page technically. Therefore, when you get back to the room your kids are drilling and hitting explosive attacks, and less time is waisted on teaching/learning. We urge all HS coaches to try it one year, as you can always go back to doing the live wrestling “team camps”. With Icons of wrestling choosing this camp, we feel confident that it will be worth your while to try it too!
Please take a second to open up the flyer below and read further for more info on our Takedown Machine Summer Camp. New this year, the Camp is 5 days in length (4 days in the past), cost is $495 (lower than others, and 300 less wrestlers for your son to fight for mat space and attention with!)

CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR UPCOMING CLINICS
Tony, I just want to thank you for the last clinic in Diamond. I was really impressed. I have been around wrestling all my life and have been to many camps and clinics. For a one day session my son has taken more useful technique than in any other camps or clinics... I really appreciate you taking time to train these kids... We will look forward to seeing you at the next Diamond Session.
Much Respect,
Andy
Tony, Wanted to thank you for the great job you did with the clinic. I am amazed at the level of your wrestlers. I will try to work with my son as best I can on his movement. I appreciate you pointing that out. I knew he was lacking on his feet but did not realize how bad since he is rarely exposed to high caliber wrestlers. He has some very bad habits on his feet, I have been having trouble breaking them. We have been to several Chertow camps as well as several camps in upper Illinois and I will say first hand none match your instruction or the quality of your room. Please keep me informed of any future clinics. We look forward to seeing you at least once a month at the Diamond Clinic.
- I hope everyone understands the impact that a monthly clinic can have on their wrestler. Where else, and in what other sport, can a serious athlete gain access to a year round, monthly training session. Being great at a handful of skills is the key to becoming successful. Being bombarded with a ton of random moves will not greatly improve any athlete. All pwa clinics are based on this concept, and only the PWA system will be covered at this clinic. No clinic moves, only proven technique, taught in a series. Our technique solves problems. And being exposed to the system, on a monthly basis, can only help the kids Additionally, the kids will gain access to the weekly practice session held each Wednesday (6-8), at the same location. Technically, the Wed session will be drill intensive, working on the techniques we covered the previous Sunday session. For those who can't attend the weekly session, I'd urge you to find time to drill, and perfect, the techniques covered. Additionally, Wrestlers are always going to become great on their own time! And ideally, this is how the monthly session should be approached. Come to the session, learn a handful of very important techniques, and then spend several hours the next month making these techniques second nature. Do this, and in one year your son will see a bigger improvement than he's seen in all his wrestling years combined! I feel that the whole concept of 'a monthly clinic', is a great idea. For those who use these sessions as a TOOL , and not as a random thing they attend a couple times a year, they will see huge gains in their sons skill level.
-
I run a series of clinics through out the year. They are either one day or two day clinics, depending on the position covered. They are position specific, meaning we spend the entire clinic on one area (ex. leg riding, mat wrestling, throws, low single, front headlock position, etc.). A one day clinic costs $45, and includes 5 1/2 hours of instruction. Two day clinics are $80. For example, a mat wrestling clinic will be a two day clinic, with the first days focus on the bottom position, and the second days focus on the top position. A clinic focusing on leg riding would generally be a one day affair. All technique is taught in a series, and retention by the wrestlers is of top priority. If you'd like to be included in a mailer when clinics come up, please email me and I will put your email in my clinic folder. If you'd like to host a clinic in your area, email me and I'll do my best to accommodate. People love this format! The parents see the benefit, and see their kids improve so much in a short time. The kids learn how to drill, learn how to train properly, and retain what they've been taught. I've been using this format since '98, and haven't changed it for a reason, and that's because it works. tony@purlerwrestling.com I'm currently working on clinic dates, check back often.
